Ingredients

Scale

Tea Base

  • 2 green tea bags (high-quality)
  • 4 cups cold water
  • Ice cubes as desired

Citrus and Herb

  • Juice of 2 fresh lemons (about 1/4 cup)
  • 10 fresh mint leaves, gently bruised

Sweetener (Optional)

  • 12 teaspoons honey or preferred natural sweetener (agave, stevia, maple syrup)

Instructions

  1. Brew the Green Tea: Steep 2 green tea bags in 2 cups of hot water heated to about 175°F (80°C) for 3 to 4 minutes. Avoid boiling water to prevent bitterness. Remove the tea bags and let the tea cool at room temperature for about 10 minutes.
  2. Prepare Fresh Lemon and Mint: While the tea cools, squeeze the juice from 2 fresh lemons and gently bruise 10 fresh mint leaves to release their aroma, enhancing the citrus and herbaceous notes of the drink.
  3. Combine Ingredients: Pour the cooled tea into a large pitcher, add 2 cups of cold water, the fresh lemon juice, and bruised mint leaves. Stir well to mix flavors evenly. If desired, add 1-2 teaspoons of honey or your preferred sweetener and stir until dissolved.
  4. Chill and Serve: Add plenty of ice cubes to the pitcher or directly into serving glasses. Garnish with extra lemon slices and mint sprigs for an appealing presentation and extra freshness. Serve immediately for the best taste.

Notes

  • Use filtered water for a cleaner-tasting tea.
  • Do not oversteep green tea to avoid bitterness; 3-4 minutes is optimal.
  • Gently bruise mint leaves with fingers to release oils without bitterness.
  • Adjust sweetness gradually to taste, starting with a small amount of sweetener.
  • Best served fresh and cold; can be stored up to 48 hours refrigerated, keeping lemon and mint separate if possible.
  • Freezing is not recommended as lemon juice and mint lose texture and flavor.
  • This tea is best enjoyed cold and not rewarmed to preserve refreshing qualities.
