Ingredients

Scale

Salmon

  • 4 fresh salmon fillets (skin-on, wild-caught recommended)

Garlic Butter Sauce

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3 garlic cloves, freshly minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare Your Salmon: Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels to ensure a great sear. Season both sides generously with salt and black pepper. Set aside while preparing the sauce.
  2. Make the Garlic Butter Sauce: In a skillet over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter. Add freshly minced garlic and cook gently for 1 to 2 minutes until fragrant and lightly golden, taking care not to burn it. Stir in fresh parsley, thyme, lemon juice, and a pinch of red pepper flakes if using.
  3. Cook the Salmon: Push the garlic butter sauce to the side of the pan. Place the salmon fillets skin-side down in the skillet. Sear without moving for 4 to 5 minutes until the skin crisps and the fish is mostly cooked. Flip the salmon and spoon the garlic butter sauce over the top. Cook for an additional 2 to 3 minutes until the salmon flakes easily with a fork.
  4. Finish and Serve: Transfer the salmon fillets to serving plates. Spoon plenty of garlic butter sauce over each fillet. Garnish with extra fresh herbs or lemon wedges if desired. Serve immediately to enjoy the best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • Choose fresh salmon for firmer texture and vibrant flavor.
  • Do not overcrowd the pan to ensure crispy skin and proper caramelization.
  • Cook garlic gently in butter to avoid bitterness.
  • Use a non-stick skillet to prevent sticking and tearing of salmon skin.
  • Let salmon rest for 1–2 minutes before serving to keep it juicy and tender.
