Ingredients

Scale

Protein and Seasoning

  • 2 chicken breasts (lean, juicy protein)
  • 2 tablespoons Southwestern seasoning blend (cumin, chili powder, paprika, and other spices)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Pinch of salt

Wrap and Vegetables

  • 4 flour tortillas (soft and flexible)
  • 1 cup fresh lettuce (torn leaves)
  • 1 cup black beans (rinsed and drained)
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes (halved)
  • 1 avocado (sliced)

Dairy and Sauce

  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese
  • 1/4 cup Greek yogurt or sour cream

Instructions

  1. Marinate and Cook the Chicken: Toss chicken breasts in southwestern seasoning blend, olive oil, and a pinch of salt. Let marinate for at least 15 minutes. Grill or pan-sear on medium-high heat until cooked through and slightly charred to develop a smoky flavor.
  2. Prepare the Vegetables and Beans: While the chicken cooks, rinse and drain the black beans, halve the cherry tomatoes, slice the avocado, and tear the lettuce leaves. Set all aside ready for assembly.
  3. Warm the Tortillas: Gently warm flour tortillas in a dry skillet or microwave until soft and pliable to prevent cracking and ease folding.
  4. Assemble Your Southwestern Chicken Wrap: Lay a warm tortilla flat. Layer chicken slices, black beans, lettuce, tomatoes, avocado slices, and shredded cheese. Add a dollop of Greek yogurt or sour cream on top to complement the spices.
  5. Roll and Serve: Fold in the sides of the tortilla and roll tightly from one end to the other. Secure with toothpicks if needed and slice diagonally in half. Serve immediately for best texture and flavor.

Notes

  • Marinate chicken longer (up to 2 hours) for deeper flavor.
  • Use a grill pan if no outdoor grill is available for smoky sear marks.
  • Don’t overstuff the wrap to avoid tearing or messiness.
  • Lightly toast the assembled wrap on a skillet to seal and add crunch.
  • Add chopped cilantro for fresh zest.
