Ingredients

Scale

Fries

  • 4 cups frozen or fresh thick-cut fries

Protein & Beans

  • 1 lb ground beef or chicken
  • 1 cup black beans or refried beans, drained and rinsed if canned

Cheese

  • 2 cups shredded cheese blend (cheddar and Monterey Jack)

Seasonings

  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Toppings

  • 1/2 cup fresh or pickled jalapeños, sliced
  • 1/2 cup salsa or pico de gallo
  • 1/2 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
  • 1/4 cup diced green onions
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Fries: Bake or fry the fries according to the package instructions or your preferred homemade method until golden and crispy. Make sure the fries are hot and ready to hold toppings without becoming soggy.
  2. Cook the Protein: While the fries are cooking, brown the ground beef or chicken in a skillet over medium heat. Season with chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Cook until fully browned and well-seasoned for maximum flavor.
  3. Layer the Fries: Spread the hot fries evenly on a large, oven-safe tray or plate. Sprinkle the cooked meat and black beans or refried beans evenly over the fries to create a hearty base.
  4. Add the Cheese: Generously top the fries with the shredded cheese blend. Place the tray back into the oven or under the broiler until the cheese melts into a bubbly, gooey layer that binds the toppings together.
  5. Final Toppings: Remove from the oven and immediately top with fresh jalapeños, salsa or pico de gallo, sour cream or Greek yogurt, diced green onions, and chopped cilantro. These fresh ingredients add brightness and balance to the rich, cheesy base.

Notes

  • Use thicker-cut fries to prevent sogginess under toppings.
  • Adjust spice level by adding jalapeños and spicy sauces to taste; offer mild options like sour cream.
  • Use freshly shredded cheese for better melting and texture.
  • Layer protein and beans under cheese to keep fries crispy.
  • Serve Loaded Nacho Fries immediately for best texture and flavor.
