Ingredients

Scale

Meat and Cheese

  • 8 oz thinly sliced ribeye or sirloin steak
  • 6 oz provolone cheese, sliced or shredded

Vegetables

  • 1 bell pepper, diced
  • 1 medium onion, diced

Other Ingredients

  • 1 tube crescent roll dough (8 oz)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or butter
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Filling: Heat olive oil or butter in a skillet over medium-high heat. Season the thinly sliced steak with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Cook the steak until browned and just cooked through, then remove and set aside. In the same skillet, sauté the diced onions and bell peppers until softened and caramelized, about 5-7 minutes.
  2. Assemble the Bake: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Unroll the crescent roll dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, pressing the seams together to form one large rectangle. Evenly layer the cooked steak over the dough, followed by the sautéed onions and peppers. Sprinkle the provolone cheese evenly on top.
  3. Fold and Seal: Carefully fold the crescent dough over the filling by bringing one short end over the toppings, then fold the two sides inward to encase the filling completely. Pinch the seams tightly to seal, preventing any filling from leaking out during baking.
  4. Bake Until Golden: Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the crescent roll crust is puffed and golden brown. Let the bake rest for a few minutes to allow the cheese to set before slicing.

Notes

  • Thinly slice steak for quicker cooking and easier assembly.
  • Let the bake rest slightly after baking to prevent cheese from spilling out when cut.
  • Use room temperature crescent roll dough to ensure easy stretching and folding without tearing.
  • Sauté vegetables thoroughly to enhance their natural sweetness and soften their texture.
  • Seal the dough seams well using pinch technique or a little water as glue to avoid filling leaks during baking.
